Pictures and Report from #Superjelly

Last Friday’s #superjelly was a super-sized version of the official Birmingham #jelly usually held monthly at Urban Coffee Company’s Jewellery Quarter Coffee Emporium.

Coffee Birmingham teamed up with official Birmingham #jelly organiser Rickie Josen and our sponsors, Enterprise Nation to run the #superjelly at three venues across the city – Urban Coffee Company in the Jewellery Quarter (as per usual) but also Six Eight Kafe in the city centre and Cafe Ezra at Hotel LaTour in Eastside.

It was a fantastic day with existing jellyheads turning up on mass to co-work, drink coffee, chat and talk not only with other well known jellyheads but also to welcome and introduce new jellyheads. We were delighted to see a lot of new faces to #jelly. Our new jellyheads included a Jelly organiser from Shopshire, leading voice actor, two hairdressers, an Occupational Psychologist and a Birmingham based printing company.

What is always refreshing to see is how new jellyheads very quickly atune to the opportunities that Jelly provides, whether it is to chat, to exchange views or two get some advice. For example, we introduced hairdressers @Scott1One and @dkny_n to twitter and to Enterprise Nation’s #watercoolermoment.

The twittersphere was definitely full of activity relating to #superjelly and quite a few people went on a #jellycrawl to all three venues on the day.

All the coffee shop locations responded by putting on their own deals exclusively for #jellyheads and there was lots of glorious cake and a few savouries courtesy of our supporter, the awesome @cocomelibakery.

We are very grateful to Enterprise Nation for sponsoring us and this event and to @cybrum, @rickiewrites and @tickitoff for being our #jelly guides.

What is Jelly?

As you may have noticed on the front page of the website, on August 10th, Coffee Birmingham is uniting with the official Birmingham #Jelly to launch a #Superjelly. Some of you are possibly wondering what a Jelly is. So here are two perspectives from the Superjelly organisers.

First, Coffee Birmingham founder, Tim Wilson explains here in relation to #JellyLincoln, which he also runs on a monthly basis.

Second, here’s a piece from the Enterprise Nation site by official Birmingham Jelly organiser, Rickie Josen which backs up Tim’s comments.

#jelly #superjelly #indielove.

Super #Jelly comes to Coffee Birmingham, Friday 10th August 2012

When Jelly and Coffee come together

In assocation with the official Birmingham #Jelly, we will be doing something a bit different next month.

What: Jelly is a regular monthly event for solo workers, freelancers and people who want to work out of the office for a day to come together to work and chat. Just bring your laptop, grab a coffee (and maybe a cake) and get to work in a lovely friendly atmosphere with like-minded people.

Why: Because the Coffee Shop is a great place work, especially when other people are co-working in the same place. Instead of the usual Jelly which takes place in one location …

… we will hold the Jelly at locations across the city.
… and because this is a SUPER #JELLY, we might throw in a few extra surprises too!

Who: freelancers, home workers, solopreneurs, small business owners, field workers, people escaping the office for the day – in fact, everyone is welcome to drop in co-work, collaborate and chat. Other than a laptop you can bring your notebook, craft or just yourself, it’s a great time to clear your diary and think of new ideas.

Where:
So on Friday 10th August 2012 from 9am, we will be at the following locations:

Urban Coffee Company, Jewellery Quarter
Café Ezra, Hotel LaTour
Six Eight Kafe, Temple Row

Feel free to come and put your laptop down then go grab a drink. Remember, you can come and go as you please! This is one of the benefits of Jelly.

Exclusive Offers for Jellyheads:
Cafe Ezra at Hotel LaTour: free first drink for Jellyheads.
Six Eight Kafe, Temple Row: coffee and cake for £4 for Jellyheads
Urban Coffee Company, Jewellery Quarter: details to come.

How: RSVP to Tim Wilson at tim@coffeebirmingham.co.uk (twitter: @coffeebrum) or Rickie Josen at write@rickiejosen.co.uk (twitter: @rickiewrites) to let us know you are coming (or you can show up on the day).

With thanks to official Birmingham Jelly organiser Rickie Josen for making this happen.

Hashtags: #jelly #indielove #superjelly #coffeebrum.
