A quick thanks to Molly and all the team at BBC Radio WM for their coverage of Coffee Birmingham day on the breakfast show this morning.
These guys and gals are the new kids on the block, yet their experience and expertise combined with much fresh thinking is on show and clear to anyone who goes into their premises on the corner of Colmore Row and Newhall Street.
Since opening in August 2012, Yorks have been garnering praise and positivity from all who visit, whether it is the fantastic Caravan coffee, expert baristas or their superb cakes, sandwiches, pastries and breads, prepared on site in their very own bakery and freshly displayed on their wooden trestle tables.
What are they doing on Coffee Birmingham day? In addition to the usual quality produce and coffee, on the 29th, there will be offers in store and they will be putting on some demonstrations to showcase their talents…
…. including, a few things that you didn’t know about TEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So, on Coffee Birmingham day, be sure to visit Yorks Bakery Cafe!!!
With thanks to Simon Ford and the team for their support.

It is absolutely fantastic to have Six Eight Kafe on board as one of the supporters of Coffee Birmingham and whose team of talented baristas will be present to showcase their talents on Coffee Birmingham Day (Saturday 29th September).
Six Eight Kafe have a strong reputation as being one of the best indies in the UK and, for those (and many more) reasons, we urge you to share the #indielove and get over to 6/8 on the 29th to understand why!

With thanks to Dav, Hannah and the whole team for their support and contributions.
… And to leave you in no doubt as to why you should visit 6/8, here’s video footage of Six Eight’s talents, videos courtesy of barista (indeed, former Six Eight-er) and all round creative force, Craig Bush. Enjoy!

Sometimes you get to experience things which are so fabulous that you simply need to blog about them.
This brings me very neatly to Miss Apple’s Sweets, a Birmingham based artisan bakery specialising in handmade delicious Brigadeiro Gourmet and Custom Designed Cakes.
For those that don’t know, Brigadeiro is a typical bite-size Brazilian chocolate sweet. It’s similar to a truffle, but it is not a truffle. It is in essence a Brazilian truffle, but instead of cream, condensed milk is used.
According to Karen, owner of Miss Apple’s Sweets, brigaderios are very popular in birthdays, weddings, corporate events and any other occasions, as well as gifts.
So, it felt like my birthday came early, when Karen came along with a few beautifully giftwrapped boxes for me and my girlfriend to try.
These are not like typical truffles but bite-sized experiences to savour! The flavours were almond, pistachio, White chocolate, capuccino and traditional. I have to say I loved them all with a particular nod to the nutty almond and pistachio ones (one can never be too nutty!).
…And in addition to her sweets, Karen makes custom designed cakes which I’d love try soon.
Thanks ever so much to Karen for her kindness and be sure to check out her sweets and cakes. They are fabulous.
OXFAM OFFERS BIRMINGHAM’S VINTAGE LOVERS A PLACE TO SWAP AND SHOP
Birmingham’s vintage vixens and retro revellers are in for a treat, as the city’s Oxfam fundraising team brings its first Virtuous Vintage Fair to town.
Taking place on Saturday 29 September 1-5pm at The Rainbow in Digbeth, the event will see a whole host of stall holders from across the region selling everything from stylish homeware to trendy trinkets.
Alongside numerous stalls will be a vintage inspired hair and beauty stylist, on hand to create cool and classic looks. In addition, there will be a clothes customisation workshop, offering shoppers top tips on how to get the retro look for less. On top of this will be a live DJ set, as well as a complimentary welcome drink and raffle taking place throughout the day.
For fashionistas looking to really bag a bargain, the Virtuous Vintage team will also be running Oxswap between 2-4pm – a clothes swapping extravaganza, offering visitors the chance to exchange three of their own washed and ironed items, for those brought by other shoppers.
Sara Fernie-Jones, event coordinator for the Oxfam Birmingham Fundraising group, commented: “We wanted to organise an event that people would really enjoy, while raising much needed funding for Oxfam. All of the money that we raise through the Virtuous Vintage Fair will go straight to Oxfam, allowing people in developing coutries to help themselves & achieve a better quality of life”
Entry into the event will be £3 per person. For more information on the Virtuous Vintage Fair, as well as forthcoming fundraising events, find our page on Facebook at ‘Oxfam Birmingham Fundraising Group’.
